Final Report now available

On 2 October 2017 the study team has presented the outcomes of the draft Final Report that was published earlier in September. Based on the feedback and comments received the report has been revised and is now publicly available. The publication of the Final Report marks the end of this study.

The report contains the overall economic, social (incl. human rights), and environmental analyses. These analyses are complemented by six tailored sector studies. The report also includes the conclusions and recommendations regarding all of these aspects.

Summary report of the 15th negotiation round

DG TRADE has published a short report of the 15th round of negotiations on the EU-China Investment Agreement that took place in Beijing from 9-12 October. They discussed amongst others transparency, national treatment, sustainable development related to investment, state owned enterprises, and domestic regulation. The next round of negotiations is likely to take place in Brussels in the week of 11 December.

Draft Final Report now online

The study team is pleased to share with you the draft Final Report on the Sustainability Impact Assessment of the EU-China Investment Agreement. This report contains three new sector studies (manufacture of food and beverages, finance and insurance services, and communication and electronic equipment), and our conclusions and recommendations. On Monday 2 October we will present these results. The Civil Society Dialogue will take place in Brussels. More details on the CSD and how to participate can be found on DG TRADE’s website.

We would welcome your comments and feedback on the report, which you can share with the study team via sia-china@ecorys.com untill 19 October, or during the meeting on 2 October.

Interim Report online

On 30 May 2017 the study team has presented the outcomes of the draft Interim Report that was published earlier in March (the presentation and meeting report can be found in the download section). Based on the feedback and comments received the report has been revised and is now publicly available. The report can be accessed here.

During the summer period the study team will work on the draft Final Report. This report will include three new sector studies: 1) manufacture of food and beverages, 2) finance and insurance, 3) communication and electrical equipment. In addition, we will include the outcomes of the stakeholder survey, and look in more detail at Chinese investments in the EU, impacts on specific human rights, and waste generation and recycling. The draft Final Report will conclude with conclusions and recommendations. Stakeholders are invited to share any input regarding the above topics and the investment agreement via sia-china@ecorys.com

Presentation of the interim results

On Tuesday 30 May we will present the outcomes of the draft Interim Report that was published earlier in March. The Civil Society Dialogue will take place in Brussels. More details on the CSD and how to participate can be found on DG TRADE’s website.

Draft interim report published online

Launch of the stakeholder survey

The SIA China study team is pleased to announce that stakeholder surveys are online. By means of this survey you get the chance to share with the study team and the negotiators your experiences, expectations and concerns regarding current investment in China or the EU, and the future EU-China Investment Agreement.

The information you give us will be treated as strictly confidential and anonymous. It will feed into Ecorys’ overall assessment of the impact of an EU-China Investment Agreement and will be summarised in the final report. No reference to individual survey respondents will be made in reports.You can fill in the relevant survey by clicking on one of the following links:
